You could say I'm a old school grower, was growing Equatorial Sativas before there were any seed banks or Internet. The more advanced growers back then started experimenting with indoor growing under fluorescent tubes with fair results, Basically everything we used back then was homemade or converted.. hydro shops were non existent. When metal halide and soon after Hps lights started popping up as street lights and parking lot lights in every city. We would pick up old parking lot lights from salvage yards and started macgyver' ing these lights with extended wiring to separate ballast from socket so we could hang just the bulb and a fancy shop built reflector hood.
Our gardens improved 10 gold from the old fluorescent tubes.
Those were exciting times, built my first hydroponic garden back in the early 80's using "Liz's Garden" hydro set up . Lava rocks soaked in nutrient rich water, with an aquarium pump and a couple air stones ..
And now I see this tiny little Beast of a light using LEDs to cut cost and heat while doing the job it's intended in a masterful way!
Through 2 autos under the lil beast. In a 2x2 just for chits and giggles. Boy was I pleased when I had to move one auto to another tent. The one auto filled the 2x2 out completely, so dense and think had to do some LST training just to keep things in check!
For autos I picked a long winded 90+ day genetic.
Just past the 90 day mark and holy butt nugz batman! She will push 140G's in the dry it's looking like. Solid dense heavily trich coated bats with a dank fruity terp.
Damn I love this freaking freedom!
Always have.
Sorry for that long arse post! U can see I was heavily enlightened with product of this lil tank!
Whatever you guys are doing, keep it up, because you have nailed with a quality light that does exactly what it's meant to do. No hype no BS!
So glad I found Californialightworks! My 550 and controller was an excellent buy. So far I’m immediately impressed with the quality and performance!
Having the ability to control the type of light your plant is receiving is great,
Great product but just wish for one thing about the SolarSystem Controller
Great to be able to program a complete range of settings to correspond to seasons and create optimal lighting for any period. Love the Manual Mode timer. My only wish list item would be able to program a "Manual Mode setting" where the controller will go into a pre-set Manual Mode. Example: to program controller to default into Red: 1 White 1 Blue 1. for the Manual mode pre-set time. (Kind of like a pre-set view mode but without having to press more than one button when switching to manual mode where I always have to choose a lighting level in Manual mode). Have bought before and will buy again.
This tiny little box is a absolute must have. It's extremely easy to use. The ability to control the Red/white/Blue spectrum from 0-99 individually gives you more control and flexibility versus your standard plug in light. You can go from seed or clone propagation into vegative stages into bloom all at the little touchscreen.
Love being able to adjust the light spectrum to specific needs. Also love the built in timer, so glad I was able to get away from a wifi outlet. Initial programming was a breeze, there's so much more this controller can do, and I've only scratched the programming surface!
I bought two from another supplier of CA LightWorks products + 1 from CALW to over-winter tropical and subtropical bonsai indoors. Within a couple of weeks I noticed better/stronger growth, thicker leaves/stems, and shorter internodes, all highly desirable for bonsai. I'll be experimenting, but I'm currently using a 1:3:5, R:W:B (15% R, 45% W, 75% B) with very good results.
I've been around grow rooms and lights since the 90's when growing technology was expensive , had many parts involved, ran extremely hot and created sky high costs on your electrical bill (Metal Hylide and HPS). Fast forward 30+ years later and we now have COB LED's from California Light Works! After researching many different light manufacturers this past year and reading pages and pages of technical specifications, California Light Works stood out above the rest of the pack.
I put my Reed Avocado saplings, and Red Savina Habenaro plants in my tent a couple days ago, before germinating "other seeds" in January, and the plants are loving it.
The light is bright but not blinding you to the point of where you can't see. It runs very cool, even with 3 seedling heat matts running my tent never gets over 80 degrees Fahrenheit. It's a great price even without the current CLW Christmas Sale, and it's full spectrum for folks who don't want to be changing modes during the grow, and no need to configure gradual increase in brightness for sunrise and gradual dimming for sunset. The PPF mapping seems consistent all across the light, with no "hot spots". It really is the Best Light on the market today. Just buy it you'll be glad you did.
Definitely buy one along with the controller. I have complete control over the spectrum my plant needs at each stage of growth
I also own a SolarExtreme 500 which I was more than pleased with but in a 20"x36"x65" small tent I wondered could the lower wattage but variable spectrum SS 275 grow just as good if not better bud with lower running costs. So far plant is growing just as quickly and has a nice stocky profile. Can't wait to hit flowering and see how spectrum control does there.
I am using this lamp for the first time, easy to set up and program with the controller for it...it seems cool because of how much can be programmed for its operation..I will know more after some time..
Love the light fixture. The plants responded well to the new environment. Very lightweight. Fills an entire 4x4 tent. Running on 40% output. Everybody seems happy. Worth the $$$. Thank You.
Lemon tree is happy and healthy even with northern exposure thanks to CA Lightworks solar Xtreme light / controller.
For those who are on the fence if it makes a difference i can say without a doubt it does theses lights are great small but mighty I got 2 n put them on either side of my 5x10 tent and in a week time my trichomes doubled it was still early stagebof flower but I truly believe it made a huge difference
Very well made light. It reaches the lower parts of my Cannabis plants telling me it reaches far into my canopy. Very happy with a growth and the size of my cannabis plants are enormous buds thank you California light works. I’m very happy with my purchase.
This is an excellent supplemental lighting. I decided to give it a try, as I was skeptic at first, but the UVB really does stimulate terpene and resin production. In about 2 days, I noticed a big difference in smell and appearance. I’m happy with my purchase.
No other light like this LED solar 550 very nice bud structure. Very nice stout, stocks growth rate phenomenal. i’ve had many of lights none compared to the solar 550
From California light works!!!!!!!!
So far so good. This light gives great coverage in my 4x4 with almost zero shadowing.. the spacing between the diode strips is the perfect width to install the twin UVB bulbs to add some extra punch for finishing, which I love! I also added the controller to do sun up and sun down feature.. my only complaint is that you can’t adjust the spectrum bc it’s set from the factory. My only suggestion for improvement would be to allow the end user to control the spectrum. I wish I could crank up the violet for flower. But other than that it has been working great! My plants like it and you can tell the flowers are much tighter than HPS..
This is the second SX250 I have.
The first one is a 2021 version and still working like a champ.
I personally like the Cobb style lights.
If any changes were to be made, perhaps an on/off switch would be a nice addition. No other changes. Great light. Highly recommended.
Great little UVB lights and I can already tell after 20 days of use, these really bring out the extra development I was looking for. Currently running them either a basic timer for about 90 minutes a day. Will probably be purchasing an additional set for my other tent. Absolutely couldn’t be happier!
